UIL pushes 6A football back to September
The University Interscholastic League has pushed back the start dates for high school activities to Sept. 7.
The order stands for Class 5A and Class 6A. Copperas Cove High School is in District 12-6A. Classes 1A through 4A will begin activities as usual, this year on Aug. 3, except for marching band, which was pushed back to Sept. 7 for all classes.
Typically the lower classes — that don’t have spring football — begin the first week of August, with the upper classifications that do have spring football beginning a week later.
Copperas Cove will now football, volleyball and marching band practice start on Sept. 7. The UIL didn’t specify a start for team tennis and cross country, but the first day of competition is also Sept. 7.
