Runners grapple with Pecan Cove hill during Jack Rabbit Run 4 Hope
They came up the hill panting, gasping and some even smiling. All were still very determined to conquer the arduous climb up Pecan Cove Hill. Participants in the Jackrabbit Run 4 Hope 5K/10K Walk/Run were off and running at 8 a.m. from Ogletree Gap Park. Young and old maneuvered their way through the course. Some were doing it for the first time and there were others who were all too familiar with the trek. It was a sunny day with cool temperatures in the early morning hours but grew warmer as the time went by.
Friends Luis Rivera and Clarence Sudler had done this run before. “I win my age category every year. The age 71 group. I haven’t lost yet. We’ve been doing this race since it started,” said Rivera of Nolanville. “I won the 65 age category,” said Sudler of Harker Heights. Both men participate in the Centex Race Series and the Jackrabbit Run is a part of that series.
