From The Bleachers
Why would a 50-year-old educator return to college to work on a doctorate degree? Why would a retired teacher or coach return to the work force? It seems the gray hair folks still have lots to offer and continuing to challenge themselves in their profession gives them inspiration to reach new goals.
I was recently asked why older educators would still be taking classes in college. Life is continuous learning. Learning new information keeps a person fresh and young. I believe education revives a person.
Now that I am in the retirement category of people still coaching, I see the enthusiasm of the gray-haired people still in the profession. As I talk to the older crowd of educators and coaches, I am encouraged to view their enthusiasm for continued learning. Coaches learning new schemes, drills and techniques. Teachers studying about new methods and ways to educate our youth. This group has so much excitement because I think these folks understand time is of the essence.
