Kids interact with animals during show at Cove Public library
“These are all my personal animals,” said zoologist Courtney Pineda to the children on the library floor as she reached in to a cage. “And I get to live with them.” Then she brought out a gecko lizard, the first of several animals Pineda – with the Wild Thing Zoofari – showed the kids at last Thursday’s Summer Reading Program at the Cove Library.
During the show, Pineda brought out an armadillo, baby otter and a lemur, but the chocolate skunk really got the kid’s attention. “Does anyone want to smell him,” Pineda asked the kids. “To see if he smells like chocolate?” Lots of little hands were raised but as she got closer with the skunk lots of little hands went back down.
