Business 190 project to begin contraction in 2 weeks

Installation of median, bike lane expected to take 20 months

A contractor has been selected for the Business Highway190 median project and work is expected to start in a couple of weeks.

Jake Smith with the Texas Department of Transportation Waco office said TTG Utilities will begin work Nov. 20 after winning the bid. TTG’s bid was $4,762,516.85, followed by Big Creek Construction at $5,387,020.25 and Ti-Zack Contrete at $5,394,708 and Texas Materials Group at $5,681,055.25. Altus Construction was the high bidder at $7,977,791.72.

The project was estimated to cost $10 million If costs went over that figure, the city would be responsible for the overage.

The project was let on Sept. 3, said Smith. “Based on the contract, contruction should last 20 months,” said Smith, putting the end date in June of 2022.
