Letter carriers collect 3 tons of food
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers raised 6,329 pounds of food over the weekend. The food collected was distributed to local food pantries that include My Brother’s House and Baptist Benevolence Food Pantry. The Copperas Cove letter carriers collected nonperishable food items from their routes on Saturday.
The carriers handed out specially marked bags for residents to place their food items in. A Copperas Cove High School organization, True Love Project, helped in the collection of food by setting up at the Copperas Cove Walmart. The True Love Project is made up of students that try to spread love through serving people. Others in the community filled their bags and dropped them off at the Post Office.
