Group seeking storage for books

When patrons enter the Cove Public Library, they’ll see racks on either side of the entrance filled with books for sale, books that are mainly donated, books in just about every subject and reading level you can imagine, books that help the volunteers of Friends of the Library working behind the scenes to purchase needed items that the library budget can’t cover and, in it’s official capacity, to help promote literacy and children’s reading programs.

“We (Friends of the Library) do a lot with the money we get from book donations but the summer reading program for the kids,” said Friends of the Library Vice President John Gallen, a member since 1990 after he retired from the military and started teaching in Cove. “That’s where we really make a difference.”
