Cove PD, Waffle Cone dish out ice cream
Saturday, two servers – one serving the community and one serving ice cream – came together at the Cove Terrace Shopping Center’s Waffle Cone for Cone with a Cop where the Cove community got to meet local law enforcement and eat ice cream. Children 12 and under got a free scoop of ice cream from the Waffle Cone staff, which was aided by a Copperas Cove Police Department officer behind the counter. CCPD also brought several police cars for the public to look at and sit in. A tattoo stand for children was set up out of the sun to get painted super hero’s and cartoon characters for free. There was a slightly awkward moment when two kids accidentally got locked into the back seat of a police patrol car.
Their older sister had just exited the patrol car and slammed the door shut as the officer said don’t close the door. There were a few tense moments until the officer was able to get the doors open. When the kids exited the vehicle, they were upset but not for the reason you might think. “We were mad at my sister for shutting the door,” said 8 year-old Roman Guerra. “My little sister screamed Mama when we were in there but we weren’t sacred.” “No, we were not scared,” said Marilyn Guerra, 7. “It was burning hot in there,” she laughed. “It wasn’t hot for me,” her brother said.
