Church delivers meals to families in need
The boxes of food were packed and loaded onto a dozen trucks and the convoy was soon on its way Sunday afternoon as members of Bethesda Fellowship Ministries of Copperas Cove made their way to Sunset, Casa and Horseshoe Drive neighborhoods to deliver Thanksgiving meals.
“We have been doing this for 12 years,” said Bishop R. Ray Gatewood.
“We have 300 meals boxed up. We always want to do better but it depends on the donations. We have adopted an area in the city that has the most need. We also serve an area in Killeen and hope to expand there. Each box includes a turkey and all of the sides that go along with it.”
Gatewood said this is just Phase I and the second phase of the holiday ministry is Christmas.
