CCISD lunchrooms honored with Blue Plate Awards during training
At the Copperas Cove Independent School District, the nutrition department doesn’t just concentrate its efforts on providing nutritious meals to students. They also take extra diligence in food safety as well, striving to promote healthy eating habits.
CCISD food handlers met Monday at the Civic Center for training and were also honored with Blue Plate Awards from the City of Copperas Cove for perfect marks during health inspections. The city inspects schools as well as area restaurants.
Over the summer, CCISD Child Nutrition Director Melissa Bryan participated in the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Summer Farm Fresh Challenge that taught children about knowing more about the food they eat and from where it comes.
