Believe in yourself

As teams finish their season, every player and coach will remember the struggles and accomplishments of the season. Some teams overcame great obstacles and will remember the process of the phenomenal year. Others will remember what could or should have been.

Fishing Report

Austin – GOOD. Water clear; 66 degrees; 0.69 feet low. As the lake cools the fish are moving to shallower water in the structure. Largemouth bass are fair along th shoreline. Sunfish are good on shrimp, cut earthworms, and live crickets along vegetation edges, near boat docks, brush, and rocks. Catfish are good with chicken liver and punch bait.

Always seek wise counsel

What is your situation? Wise coaches seek wise counsel. Whether taking over a downtrodden program or a perennial winner, it is wise to talk to others who have been those positions. How about being in the playoffs for the first time, consecutive times, or finishing the season with a losing record, I believe it is wise to visit with professionals who have been in those positions and successfully handled the situation.

Make needed changes weekly

Athletic teams many times fall from being champions to the bottom of the heap overnight. Why does that happen? Teams fall from greatness to mediocrity because of the failure to change and grow. Yes, they encounter fear of changing, uncertainty in their ability, and they doubt their plans. Coaches may fear they do not have enough knowledge to change their scheme. The uncertainty of changing with the times cripples many teams.
