* On June 20, 1782, Congress adopts the Great Seal of the United States after six years of discussion. The seal depicts a bald eagle clutching an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left. On its breast appears a shield marked with 13 vertical red and white stripes topped by a bar of blue. The eagle’s beak clutches a banner inscribed, E pluribus unum, a Latin phrase meaning “Out of Many One.”
Copperas Cove Independent School District bus driver Elysha Rudd slowly maneuvered through the cones, carefully backing her 34-foot, 10,000- pound yellow bus with a 236-millimeter wheelbase, so she did not incur any penalties as she made her way through the course obstacles.
Copperas Cove ISD continues its summer camps for the third consecutive year and the number of camps continues to grow. With more than 30 camps offered, students can learn through art, STEM, math, reading, archery, hiking, fishing, theater arts, video game design, fashion design, computer coding, first aid, crocheting and a variety of athletic camps.
Only 69 percent of test takers hoping to become certified EKG technicians will obtain their goals. Nearly one-third of those taking the test will fail. The Jackrabbit Run 5K was held last weekend, beginning and ending at Ogletree Gap Preserve. Tim Donnelly of Fort Hood was the overall male winner with a 44:27.4 while Katie Hequembourg of Killeen was overall female winner with a 47:21.4. Alan Douglas of Harker Heights was the 16-19 age groiup winner, Peter Kase of Heights was the 25-29 winner, Jacob Smith of Copperas Cove was athe 30-34 winner, Gabe Cardona of Cove was the 35-39 winner, Jeremy Alber of Cove was the 40-44 winner, Shawn Griffin of Killeen was the 45-49 winner, Ed Lee of Cove was the 50-54 winner, Chris Vance of Cove was the 60-64 winner, Mario Martinez of Stephenville was the 65-69 winner and Clarence Sudler of Heights was the 70 and over winner.
